Bako picks PDP senatorial ticket for Sokoto North


Ace broadcaster and former Director General, Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Mr. Danlabi Bako has picked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial ticket for Sokoto North.

Ace broadcaster and former Director General, Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Mr. Danlabi Bako has picked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial ticket for Sokoto North.

The late Senator Badamasi Maccido who died in the ADC plane crash on the 29th of October, represented the senatorial district on the platform of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).
Bako in a telephone chat with Sunday Sun, said he picked the ticket unopposed, even though it had to be formalised on Saturday.

A regular face on television in the 90s when he anchored the popular programme, Morning Ride on NTA Channel 5, Lagos, he recently adduced reasons for joining politics in a newspaper interview.

He told the national daily that 'if you have to input into the society and affect governance and the future of the country, you have to be in politics. You don't sit down in a bank or sawmill or a cassava farm or cotton farm and expect to influence power. It is only natural that you want to influence who becomes what and make input in the direction your country will go. That is the reason for joining politics.
